🏠 Top Authors & Stories 👥 Authors Directory & Sign-Up 🏆 Category & Keyword Leaderboards 📊 Archive Trivia & Records
📖 Our Intent & Guide: Helping Authors & Readers • Zero Server Load (archive.org-First) • Reviews Tracker • Series Grouping • Data Labels

🎯 1. Our Intent: Empowering Authors & Exposing Readers to Stories

  • For Authors: Give writers rich, motivating insights into their own catalog—career reads, recent read velocity (3-week & 2-month momentum), category/keyword reach, series completion, and new review alerts.
  • For Readers & Traffic Growth: Expose readers to thousands of classic, overlooked, and newly published stories across 82 categories, 31 keywords, and 28 years of archives (1998–2026)—driving deeper discovery and increasing traffic back to FictionMania.

⚡ 2. Minimizing Server Bandwidth & CPU (archive.org-First)

  • Zero Live Server Load: Every page here is pre-generated static HTML. Filtering, sorting, and browsing use 0% CPU and 0 bandwidth on FictionMania's server.
  • Sourced from archive.org: We rely on archive.org snapshots for the bulk of historical data and queue updates into archive.org so preservation stays current without taxing the origin server.
  • Well-Intentioned & Polite: Whenever missing metadata must be retrieved directly, requests are queued slowly and respectfully to be a good neighbor.

🔔 3. Reviews Tracker, Multi-Part Series & Collecting Stats

  • Reviews Tracker: Author dashboards store your last visit date in a browser cookie and flag stories that received new feedback with a gold NEW badge. Click "Order by Date of Last Review & Show Line" to see all new reviews above a visual divider line!
  • Connected Multi-Part Series: We automatically link chapters of a series and display them together in chronological order, showing total series reads and Part 1 → Finale reader retention.
  • Collect Your Full Statistics: Authors can email fictionmania_author@proton.me (directly or anonymously via ProxyNova) with their pen name to receive their full standalone statistics files.

🏷️ 4. Guide to Data Labels & Metrics

  • Total Reads & Velocity (+3w / +2m): Read count from the story's details page, plus estimated reads over 21 and 60 days based on daily read velocity.
  • Pending / Recent batch: Newly uploaded stories discovered in recent search-index listings whose individual details.html read counts haven't been synced yet (queued politely to avoid hitting the server).
  • Complete: Yes / WIP / SIBC: Story completion status; in Trivia tables, SIBC stands for Stories Incomplete By Choice (unfinished multi-part series).
  • TXT / HTML / SWI / ST: Direct links to FictionMania's reading formats and [details] page.
